why not print $5 copper coins???

If the price of Copper is near $3.50 an ounce, why doesnt anyone print $5 copper coins? seems logical doesn't it? The $1.50 profit might pay for the coin to be minted right? I mean, if 20 quarters weights 113.4g equals about 4 ounces then this means copper is 4x more efficient storage by weight.

The grammar nazi says, "mint".

Also, don't you know? Copper is for crappy things like pennies and third place medals. /sarcasm

I would love it. A copper the size of a fiddy cent, lets say.

But all the cost cutting arguments would persist, and fiat has already won the argument in paper currency as well as coin.

Fiat may have won the battle, but it hasn't won the war.

I will call the war for one side when:

1. Gold is monetized again.

or

2. All central banks sell all their gold. Why would a bank hold onto gold if it isn't money?

Why bother.......the value of them in FRN terms would simply be passed in a few years anyway. Might as well start making them out of plastic.....might get a couple more years that way.

Fool if copper was $4 an ounce I'd be sticking up banks for their pennies right now, loading them into my dump truck, then rushing back to my basement packed full mexican immigrants chained to their Ryedale workstations, sorting pennies day in, day out.

Two reasons:

(1) It would bring further publicity to the rising prices of copper and increase the chances of the fiat scam being brought into the public's awareness.

(2) They intend to continue the scam, so they would simply be giving themselves another problem a couple years from now when copper is MORE than $5 an ounce, or five years from now when it's $10 an ounce.... They would be minting them just to take them out of circulation in a few years like they are taking out pennies now.

It's $3.50 per pound! That's about 25 cents per troy ounce.

The way they are printing US $ at 20% plus per year - soon to be likw WEIMAR GERMANY at 20% per day - they one-ounce $5.00 copper coin would be worth it's weight in US dollars rather soon - by the way at current rate we double the 15 trillion dollars in just over three years - CURRENTLY!
